Sunday Snippets

At the breakfast table:

Alex is into body sounds. Burping is his favorite. He made a few fake burps while eating and said he couldn't help it.
Gabe: You're lying!
Alex: No I am not!
Gabe: Yes you are! You're lying!
Alex: Nuh uh!
Seth (with authority): We all tell lies! Everybody lies!

A few moments of surprised silence and giggles.
Grandpa, who is cooking eggs, breaks into song and dance:

♪♫ "We ALL tell lies! EVERYBODY lies!
YOU tell lies! I tell lies! We ALL tell lies!" ♫♪

A camera could not have done the moment justice.

Gabe cleans up his plate and asks grandpa if he may be excused.
Grandpa: Weren't you born in Rochester, NY?
Gabe: Uh, yeah.
Grandpa: Isn't that close to Saracuse?
Gabe: Uh, I don't know. I guess so.
Grandpa: What did you just ask me?
Gabe (long pause): Oh!  May I Saracuse?
Grandpa: Of course you may!

At Stake Conference:

3 young men sat so quietly for 2 hours, plus the 20 minutes or so we were in our seats before the meeting started.

They paid close attention when it was announced that their grandpa was the new stake patriarch.

They (mostly) paid close attention to their grandpa when he was giving his talk.

Seth sang all the words to the hymns.

Gabe and Alex quietly played Rock-Paper-Scissors towards the end of the meeting. On one turn Alex showed only his index finger. Gabe asked, "What's that?" Alex answered, "Pencil!"

3 young men were perfect gentlemen while they accompanied their mother and grandparents to the Stake President's office for their grandfather's ordination. When President Murphy asked if anybody had any questions, Seth asked a very appropriate question about where his grandfather would serve.  President Murphy assured him that his grandpa would not have to move away from his home. Then the president clarified Keven's full name before he gave the blessing, making sure the middle initial was "T", and not a name. He mentioned that his middle initial was also "T", not a name. And then Alex had a question for the stake president: "Do you know my brother Seth's teacher, Mr. T? He's really, really tall!"

As we were leaving Alex told President Murphy that he had BIG hands, he must be very strong, and he was pretty excited when he was able to shake hands with him.
