I ♥ White Sands.
And I ♥ the Otherson Family.
And I ♥ the Otherson Family.
Bryan, Gayle, Mike, Brittani & Jake
I have many wonderful memories from YW camps because of them. Gayle & Mike served as our camp nurses pretty much every year I was involved in camp - at least 10 years, maybe more. They were fabulous, funny, fearless and friendly. They are the finest of people.
The first year (when we went to Hueco Tanks and Mike spent 3 days on top of a rock in triple-digit weather patiently helping each young woman muster up the courage to rappel a 90' drop, and he left only when camp ended - for the emergency room because he had an abscessed tooth - he couldn't let the girls down), started the count-down to when Brittani would be old enough to come.
I don't remember for sure, but I think there were at least 6 or 7 years of hearing Mike say, "I can't wait - in ___ years Brittani will get to come!"

Brittani married Jake Saturday at White Sands. It was a beautiful wedding. If the white sand had been snow her smile would have melted everything into a giant lake. She was radiant!
About an hour before the wedding was to start the gentle breeze turned into a gale and completely destroyed the tent, tables, centerpieces - everything that was so beautifully prepared and ready. In true Otherson fashion there was no hysteria, and only those who knew what had happened had any idea that everything wasn't just as planned.
What a great party! Delicious brisket that Gayle had been cooking and freezing every day after work, plus lots of other yummy food. Great music, great company and a great setting.
And you know I never complain if I get a chance to play at the beach :)
These little girls were so adorable I wanted to bring them home and add them to my collection of grandkids!
Thank you, Brittani & Jake and Gayle & Mike for another great memory!
